Why It’s Time for Reform and How You Can Get Involved!

Are you concerned about the chaos, division and lack of spiritual substance so rampant in the churches of today? Are you seeking for answers and a closer walk with your Creator? If the answer is yes, then keep on reading.

The Precedent

Yeshua Hamaschiach’s ministry began with 12 secularly unschooled disciples who, being filled with the Holy Spirit, after His death, impacted lives all over the world despite severe persecution. Their lifestyle was simple, their teaching radical yet compassionate and consistent.

The Present

Today, there are arguably over 38,000 denominations. With the explosion of technology, the dissemination of knowledge in the 20th century is occurring more rapidly than ever known prior in our human history.

Whereas only a very privileged few had access to the bible previously, it is now freely available (both digitally and in print) to anyone who cares enough to read it.

Most people (especially in westernized parts of the world), now also have access to an astonishing amount of articles, books, apps and the like.

Yet the Institutional Church System despite displaying bibles prominently in its buildings and using holy books ceremoniously, has mostly forsaken the simple teaching of Christ and the apostles – thus failing to meet the vital spiritual needs which are so apparent in our chaotic world.

Why the Church Corporation Needs an Immediate Audit

If you’ve spent any considerable length of time sitting in a pew, you’ll feel this in your bones: the church institution isn’t just failing, it feels like a massive, international corporation with a mission statement it forgot to read.

This isn’t some new argument; the pain is historic. Think back to 1054 AD, when the East and West churches officially split in the Great Schism over who held the ultimate authority, or to 1517, when Martin Luther publicly challenged the sale of indulgences (essentially the corrupt practice of charging people money for ‘forgiveness’).

These were colossal battles over power and money, and the fight continues today with constant scandals. The heartbreaking truth, felt across the globe, is that the massive structure built to save the faith has become a brilliant engine attempting to stagnate the faith.

It’s no longer about Christ’s message; it’s about bureaucracy and CEO culture constantly choking the life out of everything.

Trading Spirituality for Stiffness

The core problem is a spiritual betrayal. For millions of people who come to church searching for answers, this creates a profound sense of alienation.

Take Sarah, who spent a year trying to launch a community project providing after-school programmes for local youth, only to have it killed by three different committees focused on liability and budgeting.

People are showing up looking for a transformative encounter with God, but ending up sitting through never-ending committee meetings.

The church, as a human-made system, has developed structural stiffness, obsessively focusing on keeping the lights on – property maintenance, rules and proving its own denomination is the only way.

This means the human agenda and the hunger for power often bury the simple need for love and service. For many, it can be devastating to realise that the institution so relied upon acts like a closed-off museum.

The Ethical Track Record: A History of Heartbreak

Then there’s the ethical record, which is a history of heartbreaking trauma. Think of the Miller family: who went to their leaders desperate for help after their child was abused by a volunteer.

They were met not with pastoral care, but with legal threats. The explicit request was to sign a non-disclosure agreement to “protect the reputation of the church.”

From the darkest days of history to the shocking abuse stories dominating the news, the institution’s first, most fervent instinct is to protect its own reputation over everything else.

When the survival of the organisation requires enabling abusers, tolerating deep-seated inequalities and silencing anyone who dares to ask uncomfortable questions, trust doesn’t just fracture – it shatters.

That’s why so many are walking away: still devoted to God, but utterly finished with the corporation that has repeatedly let them down.

And You?

Do you feel disillusioned by the confusion and compromise in today’s church culture? Are you hungry for a deeper, more authentic relationship with God beyond tradition and performance?

If the answer is yes, then you are certainly not alone in your hunger for change and it is our prayer that you find The Scriptural Reformation Network helpful in your spiritual journey and ministry.

Mind you, many professing Christians get very upset when they see the atrocities being committed by organised churches and religious organisations spoken of or exposed even in an honest and loving manner.

Many think that covering up unbiblical practices is tantamount to ‘covering the dignity of The Body of Christ’ or an expression of loyalty to Christ and His followers.

However, we owe loyalty, first and foremost, to Christ, to the truth of the scriptures and all that is morally godly and upright.

When you fully understand that ALL Institutional Churches are (whether knowingly or unknowingly) part and parcel of a system that opposes Christ and His true teachings, you will clearly see that the Body of Christ is completely different from the Institutional Church System many love so dearly – even in most cases preferring to obey rather than Christ Himself.

The irony is that many unbelievers can already see the many unscriptural practices that exist in The Institutional Church System – arguably more so than the majority of church goers and bible scholars do.

The Institutional Church System is in many ways, at odds with the same Holy Bible it claims to base its teachings on.

The Mission

Imagine that a man robbed a bank 20 years ago and became very wealthy as a result.

When such a man eventually comes to terms with the impropriety of his actions, he has a moral responsibility, not just to feel awkward about it or even to merely apologise about the past but to change his lifestyle and, as much as possible, make amends moving forward.

Likewise, most of us have made mistakes in the past due to ignorance, pride, manipulation or other reasons and circumstances.

We may not be able to return to the past in order to undo what has been done. However, by the illumination of the Holy Spirit, we can now search for the truth, turn away from sin and make up for lost time by producing the fruit of repentance.

The Scriptural Reformation Network is focused on empowering and equipping followers of Christ to bear the fruit of the Spirit while walking in Scriptural Order and Truth – the essence of True Christian Reformation.

While previous reformations have been helpful in some measure (for instance in the shaping of western society, the enabling of religious freedoms and in the abolishing of some corrupt church practices), it has also led to the birth of many denominations and schools of thought which have spread widely without necessarily pointing a majority of people back to the rudiments of the simple gospel as taught by Christ and His disciples.

“If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from the heavens and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles. 7; 14

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of Yeshua Hamaschiach, the Messiah, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfect, joined together in the same understanding and in the same perception.” 1 Corinthians 1; 10

We cannot serve two opposing masters. Each of us must choose one master for there is nothing hidden that will not be uncovered by the Creator at the appropriate time.

We highly recommend that you fast, pray and do your own historical research in search of the truth if you haven’t already.

The Scriptural Reformation Network Exists To:

  1. Sound the clarion call for personal examination and repentance.
  2. Open up the eyes of sincere and mature believers by pointing back to the ancient biblical paths.
  3. Encourage those who have a burden for Revival or Reform in the Body of Christ to faithfully fast, pray and step out in faith. Equipping those who are already committed to Revival and Reform to continue to do what God needs them to do.
